"Lookout Mountain, Tennessee" Lookout Mountain by Stephen-KarenConn

Lookout Mountain Travel Guide: 33 reviews and 36 photos

There are actually three Lookout Mountains in one. First is the mountain itself, which is a long ridge extending from Chattanooga, Tennessee, many miles southwest across the corner of Georgia, and into Alabama. Then there are the twin towns of Lookout Mountain, one in Tennessee and the other in Georgia. These pages are primarily about the town of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, which occupies the northernmost tip of the ridge, overlooking the city of Chattanooga.

Lookout Mountain is famous for many things. There are tourist attractions such as Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline Railway, as well as a National Civil War Battlefield. Some of the residents of Rock City are among the rich and famous, including Tennessee Senator Bill Brock, former Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

The thing I enjoy most about Lookout Mountain are the natural wonders of this area which has been called the "Scenic Center of the South." The cliffs, waterfalls, hiking trails and magnificent views all help to make Lookout Mountain a very special place.

I have fond memories of Lookout Mountain - we used to stop there on our annual drives down to Georgia.

Excellent tips so far. The Civil War history here makes it a very appealing site and hope to visit this area some day!
