| | Circleville is a central Ohio town of less than 14,000 people, situated on the banks of the Scioto River, about 29 miles south of Columbus, the state capital. It is the county seat of Pickaway County and also home of one of Ohio's great festivals - the annual Circleville Pumpkin Show.
Established in 1810, Circleville was initially built to conform to circular prehistoric earthworks. with an octagan shaped courthouse in the center and streets radiating out like spokes of a wheel, with cross streets forming concentric circles. With the coming of the Ohio-Erie Canal, the town was "squared" to make it more efficient for local business.
Circleville is quintessential small town America in the heart of Ohio, which is "the heart of it all." |
