| | Gila (HEE-la) Cliff Dwellings National Monument in southwestern New Mexico provides an intriguing glimpse into the homes and lives of native Americans of the Mogollon culture who lived in this rugged canyon in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The surroundings in the Gila Wilderness probably look today very much as they did when the cliff dwellers lived here, 200 years before Christopher Columbus set sail across the Atlantic. |

Basaic Wed Dec 19, 2007 16:29 UTC Great page with good tips and photos. Have you seen Montezuma Castle National Monument or the Kinishba Ruins in Arizona? | mtncorg Wed Sep 27, 2006 16:00 UTC This is a little gem of a park hidden away deep within the mountains. A few friends of mine collect county high-points - OK for big States out West, but a little too compulsive for a State like Texas ;-] | gilabrand Thu Apr 6, 2006 18:02 UTC So Gila was a personal milestone. Here I am...Except I pronounce it with a hard G. | BerniShand Thu Apr 6, 2006 03:29 UTC a truly enjoyable page, packed with great info, good luck with your book |
