Standing on the east bank of the Mississippi River in southeastern Minnesota, St. Paul is the elder, albeit smaller, brother to it's famous "twin city," Minneapolis, which is on the west bank of the river.

Saint Paul, the State Capital, is ethnically diverse with strong Scandanavian roots. The city center is surrounded by many smaller neighborhoods, each justly proud of its own unique heritage and culture. There are numerous interesting historical and architectural landmarks, parks and entertainment venues which beckon the the visitor to linger a while and enjoy the city of St. Paul.

I've never really connected Minnesota with the "Civil War", interesting information! And now that I'm thinking about it, "civil war" is an oxymoron, isn't it?

Great pictures with clear bue skies. I collect stamps and have US stamp of Fort Snelling. Always wondered where this Fort is located, now I know. Thanks :)

Intriguing historical background on the Civil (or whatever it's called) War and Minnesota politics. Otherwise the only things I know about St. Paul are from Prairie Home Companion, which is broadcast over here as in most parts of the world.

Very interesting new page! The visit to Cathedral of St. Paul was certainly educational, wasnt it? Sad but true.

Loved the Civil War Reenactors & photos of you, Karen, & the men. "Return to Cathedral" is priceless. Fort Snelling & the Chapel : both quite interesting; loved the quote about the Capitol. Allan's father's name is Albert Johnson! Terrific page, Stephen.
