Welcome to Litchfield, on Lake Ripley
U.S. Post Office, Litchfield, MN 55355
Litchfield is the county seat for Meeker County in south central Minnesota. It is one of the larger towns in what was originally a series of "whistle stops" built along a railway extending westward from Minneapolis in the 19th century. Today U.S. highway 12 follows the rail route, which is still active.
Located just 60 miles west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, today Litchfield is a thriving small town of about 6,500 residents. Litchfield's historic downtown will take you back in time with a number of antique and coffee shops to visit. On the south side of Litchfield lies beautiful Lake Ripley.

Certainly was worth the stop in Litchfield. I especially enjoyed the tips about Anderson Gardens, Grand Army of the Republic Hall, and the story about the Confederate Blanket.
