| | Litchfield is the county seat for Meeker County in south central Minnesota. It is one of the larger towns in what was originally a series of "whistle stops" built along a railway extending westward from Minneapolis in the 19th century. Today U.S. highway 12 follows the rail route, which is still active. |
Located just 60 miles west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, today Litchfield is a thriving small town of about 6,500 residents. Litchfield's historic downtown will take you back in time with a number of antique and coffee shops to visit. On the south side of Litchfield lies beautiful Lake Ripley. | | |

deecat Thu Jun 14, 2007 13:55 UTC Certainly was worth the stop in Litchfield. I especially enjoyed the tips about Anderson Gardens, Grand Army of the Republic Hall, and the story about the Confederate Blanket. | lou31 Mon May 28, 2007 01:52 UTC Hi guys...nice photos and a good start to your Litchfield pages.
