Covington is a town of less than 3,000 people located on the banks for the Wabash River, in western Indiana, not far from the Illinois state line. It is the seat of Fountain County, with about 18,000 population. Fountain County was created in 1825 and named for Major James Fountain, killed at the Battle of Maumee in 1790.
