America's Most Romantic City

by Stephen-KarenConn - last update: Feb 5, 2005

San Francisco Skyline Beyond the Golden Gate
San Francisco is hands down the most romantic city in the United States. At least that's my considered opinion after four trips to the City by the Bay, and at least one visit to each of America's 100 largest cities. That's why I chose to take my Bride, Karen, to San Francisco for Valentines weekend. We took the trek by Amtrak train from Cincinnati, which is the most romantic overland way I know to travel. It was a city and a trip to remember.

Brings back memories of the years I spent in Berkeley in the 1960s. We used to do live radio broadcasts from Alcatraz when it was occupied by the Indians. I also went by train (from Chicago) but it wasn't called Amtrak at that time.

I really enjoyed reading you tips on San Francisco. We will be heading there nest month on our way to China. We were there about 12 years ago but this time I want to go to Alcatraz..

Needless to say, Hans and I also loved San Francisco. What an amazing city! And now we'll just have to return - we forgot to kiss on the Golden Gate Bridge.
