Charles A. Linbergh Statue at the Airport - San Diego

Charles A. Linbergh Statue at the Airport

San Diego International Airport By Airplane Review

Every year 17 million passengers pass through the San Diego International Airport, also known as Linbergh Field. They come and go on 600 flights a day, with 19 commercial airlines. It is the busiest single-runway airport in America. A statue in front of the airport depicts Lingerbh, both as a young boy, and as a man.

The San Diego airfield opened on Pacific Highway in 1928 and was dedicated in honor of pioneer aviator Charles A. Lindbergh. It was the first federally certified airfield that could serve all plane types, including seaplanes, earning it the first ever AAA rating for an airport.

As far as big city airports go, this is a very convenient one, being only a short taxi ride from the downtown area.

Information about airlines servicing San Diego, flights, and contact info can be found by clicking the web link below.

The San Diego Trolley - San Diego

The San Diego Trolley

San Diego Trolley System By Trolley Review

What San Diego calls a trolley is actually a light rail system, and very different from the Old Time Trolley Tours. We found the Trolley to be our best bet to take us south of the city center to San Ysidro on the Mexican border at Tiajuana. We took the Blue Line from the Sante Fe Depot to the southern terminus of the line at San Ysidro, and back. We took the Blue Line from the Sante Fe Depot to the southern terminus of the line, and back.

The San Diego Trolley, which has been in orperation since 1981, is a 48-mile network with three different segments: the Blue Line, the Orange Line and the new Green Line. It is an easy, effecient and inexpensive way to get around much of the San Diego area.

The Pacific Surfliner at the San Diego Station - San Diego

The Pacific Surfliner at the San Diego Station

Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner Pacific Surfliner/Amtrak Review

The first time I visited San Diego, in the mid 1990s, it was a three day stop on a train trip around the United States. I immediately fell in love with the city, and the train ride there was half the fun.

The Pacific Surfliner offers great service, style and amenities as it travels the Southern California coast between San Luis Obispo and San Diego.

Onboard the Surfliner you'll find modern bi-level cars featuring large panoramic windows, comfortable, custom-designed interiors, automatic doors for faster boarding, and a spacious Cafe car serving a variety of fresh sandwiches, snacks and beverages.

The Pacific Surfliner offers eleven daily round-trip journeys between San Diego and Los Angeles, and between Santa Barbara and San Diego. Whatever your travel plans, you're sure to find a departure time that meets your needs.

Boarding the Trolly at Horton Plaza - San Diego

Boarding the Trolly at Horton Plaza

Old Town Trolly Tours of San Diego Old Town Trolly / Tours Review

Both times I have visited San Diego I have taken the Old Town Trolly Tour, and each time I saw different sights. In my mind it is simply the easiest and least expensive way to see the most of San Diego in the shortest amount of time. One of the great things about taking the trolly is that you can get off at any one of a eight designated stops. They are: Old Town, Seaport Village, Horton Plaza, Balboa Park, Coronado and the San Diego Zoo.

You can disbark as often as you wish, and stay as short or as long a time as you want, just so you don't miss the last trooly of the day. I recommend that you start as early in the day as possible. You still won't have time to see it all in one tour.
