A survey of more than 300 travelers who have toured the United States extensively revealed that North Dakota was the state they had visited least. Although it is in the geographical center of the North American continent, North Dakota is a sparsely populated state and well off the beaten path for most travelers.
North Dakota is just south of Canada's Manitoba border and is located on the 100th meridian, at US-83, which divides the eastern United States and the arid western deserts. North Dakota is best known for it's wide open prairies, although it is actually more diverse than that, with springs, lakes, forests and rivers. In the eastern part of the state, the Red River Valley is a remnant of an ice-age glacial lake, and contains some of the world's richest farmland. The Missouri Plateau in the west is sculpted with colorful canyons, gorges and buttes. Between these two regions the Drift Prairie is a gently undulating prairie dotted with marshes and lakes, an important breeding habitat for waterbirds.

Wow! That Holstein cow is udderly huge. I would love to see herds of Buffalo. That must have been so cool. Also thanks Stephen for visiting my Ios & Sifnos pages.
Poking around North and South Dakota today, virtually. They will be the last two of the "50" - and maybe the most difficult to visit. Your pages definitely helped. Marcia
You are truly the guru of the National Parks! My goal is to see them all, but, for now, I can always live vicariously through your pages. Another great one here. Thanks for sharing. :)
You had a fun time here, Stephen! I love the cow photo, I have a friend who used to live here, looks lovely. Hope your having a wonderful anniversary trip (~_~)
It sounds like you actually wanted to see a rattler! Good luck on your endeavor to attract more tourits to N.Dakota!
Stephen, your pages look awesome on the "New" VT! The cow is really a "hoot". I agree that North Dakota is one of the least visited. But you make it sound worth seeing.
