"Cowtown, Texas USA" Fort Worth by JamaicaBound

I was born and raised in Texas. As you may well know, Texans are a proud people, and we have no problem telling "foreigners" this! Our state is so large that we have deserts, mountains, forests and beaches. It takes approximately 9 hours to drive from the northern tip to the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm also proud to say that I was born in Fort Worth, and have lived most of my life here. I've taken sojourns of a few years to other cities and states where I've taken up residence; however, I always come back to Fort Worth! My parents grew up in this area, as did their parents. The majority of my family still lives close by -- if not in Fort Worth, at least within 45 miles.

There's a lot to do in Fort Worth - visit museums, dine on excellent steaks and Tex/Mex, enjoy great music, fish, shop in one of several malls, and relax in the sunshine. Some of my favorite pastimes include:

**Listening to great blues & Americana music at a number of clubs through the city

**Boating and fishing at Possum Kingdom or Benbrook Lakes

**Eating beef ribs at Risckey's in the Stockyards

**Attending one of the many festivals -- Main Street, Mayfest, Bedford Blues Fest, Oktoberfest, etc

• Pros:Small town with all the amenities of the big city
• Cons:Growing quickly, so the traffic is becoming horrendous!
• In a nutshell:Longhorn cattle, cowboy hats and thick juicy steaks side-by-side with Movie stars, military bases and luxury mansions
