| | ICTP Founded in 1964 by Abdus Salam (Nobel Laureate), the ICTP operates under the aegis of two United Nations Agencies - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and is regularised by a seat agreement with the Government of Italy which provides the major part of the Centre's funding. One of the main aims of the ICTP is to foster the growth of advanced studies and research in the developing countries. Several thousand scientists, the majority of whom come from the developing countries, visit the Centre every year. In addition to the regular research activity, high-level training courses, workshops, conferences and topical meetings take place at the ICTP throughout the year. |
| | Tempio Nazionale a Maria Madre e Regina Monte Grisa Temple is an extraordinary building that dominates the city of Trieste and its wonderful gulf. Whith its grandeur and severity it appears as if it had sprung from the naked rock of the Karst and from the dark green pines. It wuould be worth visiting, just to admire the superb landscape opening from the square on to the immense sea stretching between Aquileia, Miramare and Piran. |
