Sleepy Eye Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 3 photos
Fertile land tilled by the hard-working fathers and mothers of the area along with the many DelMonte and Norwood factory workers sum up the majority of the persons in the miniscule community. A small downtown comprised mostly of self employed parents brings the two rival schools homecoming banners proudly waving . St. Mary,s Catholic Church is a large Europian gothic cathredral, a sight to to behold. The towns population balloons to 4,000 during the height of summers heat and humity. Other items sight of Chief Sleepy Eye Monument, near the Fort Ridgely St. Park grounds, Hwy 14 west takes you to the town of Walnut Grove(35miles)
- Pros:small community and close knit neighbors, churches and bars
- Cons:rural community struggling to keep downtown alive
- In a nutshell:St. Mary's Catholic Church breathtaking, home
