We went to Sri Lanka on Dec 9th 2002 to Jan16th 2003. The weather during our visit was very nice. Sometimes it rains in the late afternoon but not for long. We had a couple of heavy monsoon type showers at the end of December but this I was told was unusual. For the majority of the time during our visit it was hot and sunny, Perfect.......

In Sri Lanka there are some of the best beaches in the south that I have been to, and me being a beach bum it was heaven. So if you are looking for a cheap holiday on the beach then you can't go wrong here. The best time to go in the south for the weather is from November to March, although it can rain then it mostly rains in the late afternoon or evening. When we where here in the middle of December to early January it was hot and only rained in the day a couple of times.

For the most the people of Sri Lanka are wonderfully kind and helpful and are great fun to be with, but with all walks of life you get the odd bad apple who want's to take you for a ride but they are very few and far between. We never encountered any bad problems when we were here but did hear of a few stories of tourists getting ripped off. But there again don't people everywhere.
