Puerto del Sol at Night

Viva la Madrid!

Madrid is a wonderful, exciting and vibrant city! Christmas time is an especially exciting time to visit and take in some of the local activities - like Shopping! The photo show the Puerto del Sol which is the vibrant city center. This area is full of people day and night. All of the major shopping areas are within walking distnace of the plaza and Metro stop.

Sightseeing

Madrid's sights are very accessible by Metro and on foot. From the Sol or Opera stops you can see all of the "Royal" or Real sight such as the Palace and Theater, as well as the architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Seafood as Art

Eating out!

It seems everyone in Madrid eats out. I am sure this is not really the case but the research I did on what to eat, where and when rang true. Breakfast is served late, if at all (I couldn't confirm nor deny this as we didn't get up before noon during our trip because we also did not get home before 3 am). Lunch is usually between 2 and 5 and can be quite elaborate. Tapas are served all night but usually eaten between 7-9, leaving dinner to be enjoyed, and I do mean enjoyed between 9-12. After dinner, of course, most nights except Monday, young Madridians had to the bar and disqotechas.
In the photo I am posing in front of a window at a seafood restaurant. We took several photos here hoping to later identigy the more than a dozen varieties artfully displayed.

Hey, I was there at the same time staying at Sol. I also stayed at H. Martin in February. Weird, huh? Great page and you even made time to call your mom. Aren't you sweet. Well, now it's your turn . . . Happy birthday!
