Just back from Nairobi - was in town for the mass rally in Uhuru Park on Oct. 14. Staying in the Intercontinental Hotel directly across the street gave me the opportunity to view the Kenyan political scene at close range -the poor have yet to find a true hero ...
Update 2003
The Rainbow Party formed, and won the election and the Presidency.
Sad news ... The great Kenyan humorist and satirist Wahome Mutahi died during a routine medical procedure ... an important voice has been stilled in Africa.

What a great page you have here, hope to see more pics, wish to you there someday, happy travel=))))
Not sure if it's a shame or a blessing that such areas of beauty are so hard to reach. My guess is the latter but nice to know there's a little Italian in case we miss home. A high priority destination for me, thanks.
Doc... I like your writting style. Honest, interesting, and insightful but... I know you're holding back on on this highly weighted delight that sits very high on my 'have to experience' priority list. Give us more man!!!
My last visit to Zambia main memory was the firewood (aka desertfication) being driven into lusaka for fuel ; & the copper facility for making thinner than hair CU microcircuitry wires ;-)))
I enjoyed your Africa pages. Very good info. Thanks
Is this not the case, the more we progress, the less we progress.....beautiful word pictures on your lovely page. Thank you.
Hi, Richard. Nice info on Africa. I like how descriptive you are about the hotel and restaurant.
As always - interesting page.
nice people, putholes, giving people a voice and silencing the corruption. Still...Africa is beautiful
You've written your Tips very well.
It made me hope that I'll be able to use them once...
