Just back from Nairobi - was in town for the mass rally in Uhuru Park on Oct. 14. Staying in the Intercontinental Hotel directly across the street gave me the opportunity to view the Kenyan political scene at close range -the poor have yet to find a true hero ...

Sad news ... The great Kenyan humorist and satirist Wahome Mutahi died during a routine medical procedure ... an important voice has been stilled in Africa.

Not sure if it's a shame or a blessing that such areas of beauty are so hard to reach. My guess is the latter but nice to know there's a little Italian in case we miss home. A high priority destination for me, thanks.

My last visit to Zambia main memory was the firewood (aka desertfication) being driven into lusaka for fuel ; & the copper facility for making thinner than hair CU microcircuitry wires ;-)))
