Tennis courts, gym and Navy Lodge (right)
I looked in the booklet that listed Navy Inns and Lodges, and there were two listings for Memphis, so I made reservations as a stopover for a few days on our way from Arkansas to Kentucky.
There were two facilities there at the Millington Naval Support Activity base - one was the Navy Inn and the other was the Navy Lodge. As a retired Naval officer, Bob is eligible to stay in military lodgings (although we can't make the reservations very far in advance and priority goes to active duty).
I did not appreciated at first that there was both a Navy Inn and a Navy Lodge. The Lodge is a little less expensive and is not actually on the base. The Inn is on the base and has free wi-fi.
Unique Qualities: Each room has a fully equipped kitchenette (dishes, pans, etc.) with a stove, dorm sized refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. We had two double beds with a night table between them, an upholstered chair, a table and chairs, and a TV which sat on a chest of drawers. There is a radio/clock, irons and ironing boards, and on-site laundry facilities. There was a nice bathroom, and maid service came in each day.
We could make free local telephone calls. A free local paper was supplied, which I prefer to getting some generic paper such as USAToday. There is a gym and outdoor tennis courts, outdoor BBQ and playground nearby. If you have access to the Navy base, there is an exchange and commissary within a mile or two, and it doesn't take long to get to Memphis to visit the attractions there.
We went back for a second time, and this time they gave us a handicapped room which had only one queen bed, plus a sofa and had a huge shower that you could sit on a bench to take a shower.
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Take Highway 51 North. Upon entering Millington, merge into right lane. At light on Navy Road, make a right. Continue straight past entrance to base. At first light, make a left and make an immediate right. Navy Lodge will be on your left.

I have NOT stayed here.
We were only staying in Millington on a trip between Branson MO and Kentucky. We were staying on the base in the Navy Lodge. This looks like it would be a slightly more expensive alternative if we wanted a kitchette room and could not stay and the Navy Lodge or Navy Inn.
Unique Qualities: The website says
The Best Western Inn is Millington's premier limited-service hotel. Here you will find beautiful surroundings and comfortable accommodations with well-maintained and tastefully decorated guest rooms as well as kitchenette rooms and rooms with microwave, refrigerator, and free high-speed Internet access. Relax in our large Olympic?-size outdoor pool. Los Reyes restaurant is a well-known Mexican restaurant in the Millington community and is located next door. The Best Western Inn is conveniently located to all Memphis area attractions and across the street from the USA Baseball Stadium, Memphis Motor Sports Park and NSA Midsouth. Come and experience our fine facilities and personalized service.

There are not very many hotels in Millington, especially if you take the duplicates out of the database.
There aren't many places to go (the Navy base is about it)., and not much to do (go to meetings on or near the base which is 2 miles away).. The hotel website can think of nothing for a local attraction (other than the base) except
USA Baseball Stadium adjacent
Memphis Motorsports Park
Only 15-30 minutes to most Memphis Attractions"
We were only staying in the area because we had car trouble on the way to Memphis, and we weren't staying here, we were staying on the base in the Navy Lodge.
So while we were driving around in the rental car looking for Cattleman Jack's which I think turned out to have gone out of business, I took pictures of two of the hotels on the road and this was one of them.
I have not stayed here.
Unique Qualities: According to the notel website they have:
Free High Speed Internet Access(Hardwired) (I think this means a LAN and not a wireless network-they probably will lend or rent you a LAN cable if you don't have one).
