We never actually stopped at Southport proper until the spring of 2002. Both times for the 2000/2001 trip we went to Bald Head instead. (See Bald Head pages) And on the way down in the fall of 2001 we went to a new marina south of Southport. We finally visited here in the spring of 2002 Southport has a historic district where one can walk around and see cottages like this one. There are also some museums and gallery. |
But Southport for us is primarily a water front town. If you look carefully at the photo, you can see the blue Southport water tower past all the docks |
