"Graveyard of the Atlantic" Hatteras Island by grandmaR

Hatteras Island Travel Guide: 33 reviews and 61 photos

Hatteras Island is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is the place where the warm Gulf Stream coming north meets the cold currents coming south, making treacherous shoals. Cape Hatteras has a wealth of history relating to shipwrecks, lighthouses, and the U.S. Lifesaving Service.

On the island, one of the most well known landmarks is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, NC.

In addition to Hatteras itself, and Buxton, other Hatteras Island towns include Rodanthe, Avon, Waves and Salvo

Hello! I found your listing of grocery stores. I own Island Deliveries, an online grocery delivery service. I just wanted to correct the phone listing. 252-305-0357. The web site is still www.islanddeliveries.biz. Thanks & hope to see you in Hatteras!
