# Fishing - Fishing is quite a big activity at this park which has shore fishing in the Chesapeake, the Potomac and Lake Conway.

The park features three fishing areas available 24 hours, including a 710 foot pier (24 hour operation May 1-November 30). Between December 16, 2004 and March 24, 2005 the pier will be closed for the season. Effective March 25, 2005 the pier will begin 24 hour operation .

# Night Fishing Pass - Valid from sunset to 6 a.m. All passes are valid during this time period. Fishermen wishing to stay past sunset will be required to pay an additional night-use service charge of $3 per vehicle; $4 per vehicle for out-of-state residents. All members of your party must have a valid fishing license and be actively fishing to remain in the park after sunset.

# Causeway - All service charges will apply to the Causeway area. Those wishing to stay on the Causeway will be obligated to pay both the day use and night fishing pass service charges. To remain on the Causeway after sunset you will be required to have a night fishing pass displayed. Active fishing is required. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the Causeway, piers and Point area, unless consumed at a picnic table.

Equipment: Anglers ages 16 and over need a Maryland Chesapeake Bay Sportfishing license and appropriate stamps.

Point Lookout Concession rents 16-ft. john dorries and canoes. Boats go quickly, so arrive early. Food, beverages and fishing supplies are also available.

A fish cleaning station is available at the boat launch area. The park also has four launch ramps and 97 pull through parking spaces.

Directions: The park is located at the confluence of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Swimming

Swimming is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty. The beach area has grills, picnic tables, and a playground. Facilities include showers and restrooms.

Boats

A boat launch facility and fish-cleaning station are available for boaters. Boat rentals and supplies are also available at the camp store.

Boat launch service charge is $10 per launch, valid 24 hours a day from April-October. Boat launch service charge is $10 per launch when the facility operates sunrise to sunset November - March. Between November 1, 2004 and March 24, 2005 limited services will be available from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Equipment: Bring a flashlight if you plan to launch and recover after dark. There will be no routine service available from staff during these hours.

Between March 25, 2005 and May 26, 2005 limited services will be available from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 24 hour operation applies Monday through Friday during that timeframe.

Directions: From Rt. 695 take I- 97 S. Rt. 3. to Rt. 301S to Rt. 4 S. Cross the Solomons Island Bridge. Left on Rt. 235 south to Ridge (there will be a blinking red light). Follow Rt. 5 S as far as it will go (approximately 7 miles) and you will be in Point Lookout.
