Downs Park

Downs Park is 245 acres way out Pasadena Neck on the Chesapeake Bay. I found out about it when my niece was married there in the Mother's Garden.

But it apparently also offers more than the garden. There's also five miles of paved and natural trails. The main course of 3.5 miles is flat, with the exception of one small hill and runs along the Bay for at least 1/2 of the trail. There are places for the non-runners to play, including a great playground.

That's why it is in the 'off the beat path' category. It's not really JUST a sports tip or a park tip.

A youth group camping area is available for organized youth groups. There also an Adopt-an-Owl program. The Downs Park property has a rich history which has been preserved by the Downs Park Historical Society. Entry fees are charged for vehicles entering the park. Annual permits are available. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

There is a Bayside Concert Series and other events.
