A few miles north of Leonardtown, Loveville was named for the first postmaster Albert K. Love when the post office was established in 1890.

Before each Valentines Day, many people send their valentines to Loveville (Zip Code: 20656) to receive a special red cancelation stamp marked "Loveville" with a heart and a cupid.
