| Me and my dad at Nobska beach |
When I was a child, we spent many summers in Woods Hole while my dad worked at the MBL. There were 2 beaches - Rocky and Nobska. We could walk to Rocky beach, so we often went there, although Nobska was a nicer beach. Nobska required men to wear tops at the beach into the 40s. The first year I was in Woods Hole was in 1938 when I was a baby. |
When I got to school age, we spent our time going to the summer Science School on the Eel pond, and boating and going to the beach. The last year I went with the family was 1954 when I had just gotten my driver's license. In 1958, I took a class at the MBL for college credit, and also from there I visited my fiance who was stationed in New London at the sub base for his second class year cruise from the Naval Academy. Then we visited the Cape again in 1971 when we lived in RI. |
