Summer in Massachusetts

by grandmaR - last update: Dec 4, 2005

Two older Daughters in the yard in 1970
Children at Fruitlands Museum in Harvard MA
My husband's ship was in Boston Shipyard for the summer, and we rented a house in Lexington for 2 months. During that time, I made several educational trips with my children. I did this partly because my children were too shy to walk up and introduce themselves to the other children that lived on the street where I rented a house, and the other children ignored them. But I had also found that if I didn't get out and visit places where we were living, that I wouldn't see anything.

In addition to visiting Lexington and Concord (no pictures yet), we visited Boston, and Saugus Ironworks in June, Concord MA, and Harvard Fruitlands Museum (which is NOT the educational institution in the Boston area)..
and Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth, NH in July, and Plymouth and Salem in August. Then we moved back to Baltimore where we visited Gettysburg in September, and finally in October of 1970, we bought a house in Greene, RI.
