Take a Bike

One way to get to Pigeon Key is to bike out (or jog or walk out) via the old bridge. Because no vehicles are allowed on the bridge except for Henry the Train.

Before we left Marathon in our boat, I biked out as far as Knight's Key. One of my fellow tourists took my picture by the STOP sign on the gate (I had leaned the bike up against the guard rail while I was taking pictures).

I used this picture on my home page while we were coming back north because I would not be able to answer emails or questions as readily while we were traveling.

Henry the Tram

Visitor tours include a 2.2 mile ride on the tram -"Henry". You can also run, job, walk or ride your bike out to the Key. Keep in mind that if the wind is with you going out, it will be against you coming back if you are walking or biking.

The island tours run on the hour from 10:00am - until 3:00 pm. You need to buy a ticket and make a reservation. You have to buy a ticket anyway even if you don't take the tram - it's the same price either way. They give you a sticker to wear to show that you've paid. You don't have to come back on the same tram you went out on, but the last tram back is at 3:45 pm.
