Fort Taylor Beach

The Navy turned Fort Taylor back over to the state when the armed forces were downsizing. They did not give the whole area to the state however. The picture is taken from the Navy side of the beach toward Fort Taylor.

Equipment: There is a $4 per car fee, and you really need some kind of transport to get here - it's not really walkable, nor can you get here from the Bone Island Shuttle or any of those tour buses.

The beach area is available for fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and picnics etc. and is said by some to be the best beach in Key West. There are showers, a snack bar and restrooms
