"Tricky Inlet" Fort Matanzas by grandmaR

Fort Matanzas Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 21 photos

We always have to go by this inlet on our way up and down the ICW. It was dredged this last winter, and that made it much less tricky, but before when we would go by, the TowBoat guy would be sitting there fishing and waiting for people to go aground so he could pull them off.

People often follow us through the inlet as if they thought we knew what we were doing. Picture shows a big ketch with blue topsides and another boat behind us.

We have never visited the fort, but we see lots of people boating and fishing and recreating in the area.

It is a good thing those cannons don't work anymore:-) Imagine being one of those Spanish soldiers stuck out in the fort for a month - before dredges and ICW;-\
