Seaplane over Government Cut - Fisher Island

Seaplane over Government Cut

Sea and Air

I recently saw a Travel Channel special on Fisher Island which said that one could get there on Chalk Ocean Airlines. However there doesn't seem to be a flight on Chalk's webpages that is scheduled to go to Fisher Island. It would be really neat to go that way if it were possible. So the phone and website refer to a charter plane. They charter a deluxe 17 seat Mallard aircraft.

The plane pictured is probably one of the ultra-lights from Rickenbacker and not Chalk's.

Heliocopter on Fisher Island - Fisher Island

We saw this helicopter parked on Fisher Island. I cannot find what the price would be for a ride to the island, but there is a website which says: "The Inn at Fisher Island, on a 216-acre island off the coast of south Florida, offers a romantic getaway package that runs $50,000 per couple. As you would expect at that price, the service and amenities are obscenely hedonistic.. Couples are picked up in a luxury helicopter at the airport".

So it may be included in the price of the hotel.

Fisher Island Ferries coming and going - Fisher Island

Fisher Island Ferries coming and going

Ferry

This ferry leaves every 15 minutes and runs 24 hours a day. So while we can avoid most traffic by leaving or coming into Government Cut at night, we still have to dodge these ferrys

Hotel website says: "Only Residents, Their Guests and Guests of the Club Are Permitted to Make the Seven Minute Pictureque Water Crossing From Miami Beach to Fisher Island." Residents get first priority.

Directions - From US1 Merge on to I-95 North
Make SHARP RIGHT TURN on I-395 E.
I-395 E becomes MACARTHUR CSWY/US-41 E.
MACARTHUR CSWY leads to FISHER ISLAND FERRY on your right. FISHER ISLAND FERRY becomes FISHER ISLAND DR.

(Car Ferry every 15 minutes /NO fare/Need Clearance)

Car Ferry to Fisher Island - Fisher Island

Car Ferry to Fisher Island

Car Ferry

I think this is the way construction workers and other non-residents go to Fisher Island. It is basically a barge pushed by a tug. It doesn't look fancy enough for the regular Fisher Island ferry.

It does go to Fisher Island, because I've seen that it does. But it doesn't leave from Miami Beach like the regular passenger ferry.
