Crowds

Although we were there on a cold raw day in January, there were still plenty of visitors at the Castillo and the parking lot was almost full. The NPS webpage says:

"Visitation is highest June through Labor Day, during the December holidays, and March through April. Visitation is lowest from the middle of September through early December. School group visitation is quite high February trough May. Visitation is also quite high on summer and holiday weekends when an average of 3500 people per day visit the Castillo."

Parking

Unless you get to the fort on the city tram tour (which is recommended), you will have to park somewhere. The fort parking lot has meters, so you have to be prepared with change.

As noted by the sign, the lot is locked at 5:30 pm, and cars will be towed away.
