Plants, Pottery and Fresh Vegetables: Big Pine Weekend Flea Market - Plants

.

What to buy: Fresh vegetables is one of the things you can buy. We've never bought any so I don't know the prices.

I haven't bought anything from the plant stand either.

Sterling Silver: Big Pine Weekend Flea Market - Jewelry

Look for the truck that has a big FLEA MARKET sign on the side.

What to buy: I bought some wholesale stuff for my daughter's anniversary - not at this stand, but it was wholesale jewelry. The marked prices were not the prices I paid. I think sometimes you can get some bargains and possibly some souveniers like painted floats.

T-shirt booth from pavillion - Big Pine Key

T-shirt booth from pavillion

T-shirts and dresses: Big Pine Weekend Flea Market - clothing

These shops with the T-shirts nicely displayed are not the ones that you get 4 for $10.00. But at that they are probably cheaper than you will get in Key West on Duval Street.

They also have women's sarongs, terry bathrobes, bathing suits, etc.

What to buy: At the sock booth, the photo was taken on a cold day as you can see from the way the woman shopper is bundled up. I've never bought socks here. The booth is right next to the cheap (seconds) T-shirt booth where T-shirts (some with collars) are 4/$10.00 (bottom picture)

Bob at the booth - Big Pine Key

Bob at the booth

The Boater's Friend: Big Pine Weekend Flea Market - Fishing /Boating

There's a big flea market at Big Pine every Saturday and Sunday 8 to 2 from October to May. So many people come that the traffic is terrible. There is a big parking lot with no shade. Be sure you've got sunscreen.

We went in 2002 when we had a rented car, and went again January 2004.

What to buy: There are a variety of items on sale. The first time, I got some canvas for painting pictures on, and sunglasses. Bob got some very cheap canvas bags, and shirts that were seconds. There were also books, pottery, dishes, knives, T-shirts, sarongs, socks, and knicknacks of various sorts.

This guy has various pieces of stainless boat hardware such as handles and hinges, stainless strips, and dinghy plugs, etc.

The second picture has various kinds of fishing equipment and the third booth has knives and binoculars. Polarized sunglasses for fishing (you can see the fish better when the sunglasses take the glare off the water). Bob got a pair of sunglasses one time and a patching kit for the flat hose we have on the boat.
