I finally persuaded Bob to stop at this park which is on Bahia Honda Key between mile markers 36 and 37 on our way up to Miami. We had never been before. I wanted to walk up to the old bridge and see it first hand.

The first 13 acres of the park were purchased in 1961, and the park now has 524 acres (most of Bahia Honda Key) including one small island which is offshore.

Entrance fees to the Florida State Parks are quite reasonable. The Florida Park Service attempts to return the areas to as close as possible to the way they were when Europeans first saw them.
