This is Florida's oldest surviving hotel which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1857, by David Yulee - his Florida Railroad from Fernandina to Cedar Key was to be the first cross state railroad. The original building was of typical frame Vernacular "Cracker" style construction. David Yulee left town on his Railroad, shortly after the port and Fort Clinch was seized by the Northern Troops during the Civil War. The hotel housed Officers of the North during the War. After the War was over, Major Leddy (who was Provost Marshall at Ft. Clinch) and his wife acquired the Hotel, and continued it's operation as a Hotel. A dining room was added so that guests and locals could gather and have Boarding-House meals. Visitors have included General Ulysses S. Grant, and Jose Marti (instrumental in the development of Fernandina).

Unique Qualities: I have not stayed here, but ate with people who were staying here and they seemed quite happy with their accommodation. Rooms range in price from a small twin room for $99 to $219 for a deluxe king.
