"Monterey in 1964" Monterey by grandmaR

This picture was taken just before we left Monterey. I am wearing a wig, and also a dress that I made for myself with a matching jacket which made me look much fatter than I actually am because it is a puffy material with a three dimensional component. I have my Kodak Retina Reflex camera around my neck with which I took all my pictures until about the 1980s. It has no flash.

My younger daughter is wearing a sweater from Norway that her grandparents sent her.

I think the picture was taken by either my mom or dad.

Dennis the Menace Park

My husband was sent to the USN Post Graduate School in Monterey in 1964.
We lived in the Monterey area for two years. One of the things we often did was to take the children to Dennis the Menace Park. My daughter is on top of the engine.

Through the Ferris Wheel at the County Fair

Monterey was the county seat for Monterey County. The county fair was in Monterey every year. This is the view from one of the double ferris wheels. They also had racing.

We also went to Laguna Seca races (take sunscreeen and water), visited Cannery Row, and toured other California locations from Los Angelos to San Francisco.
