I was told that Virgin Gorda, or "Fat Virgin", was named by Columbus. I can see how he would get the Fat part of it, but how did he know that she was a Virgin? Maybe she was pregnant and not just fat.

Virgin Gorda is notable for two luxury hotels (Little Dix Bay and Bitter End Yacht Club) and The Baths which is a collection of LARGE boulders. Near The Baths is Devils Bay National Park, which the Rockefellers gave to the BVI in the 1960s.

The BVI in general is also known for water sports, particularly sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Boy are you ever right about going early to the Baths to avoid the crush of cruiseship tourists! But it's a beautiful park, isn't it? Nice photos...Wendy
