Jovaninis Cafe: Italian with Bahamian overtones Jovaninis, Ltd. Review

This is a tiny restaurant, so either make reservations or go really early. It is small and informal, but has really good food that is not expensive. The first time we were there, 6 couples were celebrating something, and the table stretched almost the full width of the restaurant. They wanted pictures taken of the whole group, so I did that (4 cameras).

Note: Sometimes this is spelled with a G instead of a J.

Favorite Dish: There is another Italian restaurant in the area which is much more upscale than this one, but I can't believe the food is any better and I'm SURE it is much more expensive.

We both had the seafood spaghetti - shrimp, fish and lobster. It was very good. Then we had peach melba for dessert. Our meal (drinking iced tea) cost us $35.54.

Address: PO Box F-41947 Freeport BS

Pizza Hut: Pizza Pizza Hut Review

This is another fast food franchise that's been transplanted to Freeport. It is in the same Mall as the Subway.

They have Carry Out, Dine In, and Delivery.

I haven't eaten here and I don't know how far the radius of delivery extends. There is a Dominos at Port Lucaya.

Subway, KFC and Burger King: Fast Food Franchise City Subway Review

The REAL restaurants that are in Freeport City are the fast food franchises from the US. We walked all over Freeport trying to find a place to eat lunch. (There may be places to eat dinner) We found Subway (which was in a mini mall), Burger King (next to the Winn Dixie) and KFC. We finally settled for KFC.

Looking toward the Fat Man's Nephew

Fat Man's Nephew: Second Floor Fat Man's Nephew Review

This is NOT in Freeport City. It is in Lucaya Marketplace.

On our previous visit this restaurant was being remodeled. It is upstairs over another restaurant. This time, we ate here when we were both groggy from being up for 36 hours. We were early for dinner and could sit on the rail and look out at the harbor and marina.

Favorite Dish: The service was a little slow, and the food was ordinary. I can't remember what we had to eat. However it was quite reasonably cheap- $32.50 for two including tip.

Frommers says: "Today the place, which used to cater mainly to locals, has gone touristy, but much of the same traditional fare is still served ...There are usually at least eight kinds of game fish, including both wahoo and Cajun blackened kingfish, plus curried chicken, mutton, or beef. Bahamian-style shark soup, made from the flesh of hammerheads ("little tender ones," according to the chef), is sometimes featured on the menu."

Address: Port Lucaya Marketplace - upstairs

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: Second floor - east side of pavilion overlooking Bahama Mama pier in Lucaya Marketplace - NOT in Freeport City
