Freeport

Freeport from the water
We've been to Grand Bahama twice in our boat. Once we sailed from Bimini to Lucaya. While we were in Lucaya we took a jitney bus in to Freeport to shop. Then we sailed from Lucaya to Florida.

The second time we came from Chubb Cay in the Berry Islands. The second trip was very traumatic as there were high winds and waves. We went to Lucaya again. This time we went from Lucaya to West End (also on Grand Bahama) and then to Ft. Pierce FL.

The trip from Chubb in 2002 is a narrative on the Lucaya page, as is most of the rest of the information on Grand Bahama.

Freeport is not a resort city.

lol there are lots of other options. Many local places feature restaurants that serve Bahamian, Italian, American, Chinese, Greek. There are lots of places to eat if you just ask. You have to start going into town to find 99% of the fast food restaurants.
