"Nassau" Nassau by grandmaR

The original Nassau is a name of a family and a region and former duchy of central Germany. Now there is a Nassau county in New York State. But the primary Nassau that people know now is the capital and largest city of the Bahamas, on the northeast coast of New Providence Island in the Atlantic Ocean east of Miami, Florida.

We've visited there several time - the latest visit was on the Enchantment of the Seas.

Nassau lighthouse and Atlantis

In 2002, we went from the Berry Islands to Nassau on our boat. We stayed in Nassau for several days, and enjoyed visiting the aquarium at Atlantis, eating in the restaurants, and I bought some Bahamian produced gifts. I also had a filling replaced by a dentist when one fell out of my tooth. After we left Nassau, my husband had a heart attack and we returned to Nassau where he was diagnosed and from there we flew to Miami for an angioplasty. We returned to get the boat and sail it home.
