I've been to Paris two different years. The first time was in 1950 with my parents. I was 12 years old.
The second time was in 1964 after I was married and had two children. I was meeting my husband when his Navy ship came into various ports in the Med. On that trip, I wanted to minimize the amount of money I spent. So I didn't spend the night in Paris. I passed through Paris on a Eurail pass on my way from Cologne Germany to Spain. I spent the day on a Cityrama bus tour of the city, and then went to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower and the towers of Notre Dame.

I was the one who posted that forum question in 2006 about which attraction had the most tips written about it. And I still have a travelogue on my Paris page called "The Eiffel Tower now has 1380 tips here on VT" which I update once a year.
I had grand plans to photograph a series of upclose shots of the ironwork. My Cool Pix just couldn't zoom well enough for mine to be clear. It does look like lace doesn't it. Good photo!
Think I have a photo taken at night I must go find it :-))
