HI, it's about me

Hi Friends !!

I have been a member of this WONDERFUL community since Oct. 2002 and have already learned so much from it. Thanks to all of you. This site has created a lot of interest in me to travel and meet prople all over the world.

I have been travelling in India since long. Some of the places I have visited in India are Goa, Simla, Mussorie, Andamans, Rishikesh.
I have been to most of the places in India.

A beautiful temple

India is famous for old temples. Few countries in the world have such an ancient and diverse culture as India's. Stretching back in an unbroken sweep over 5000 years, India's culture has been enriched by successive waves of migration which were absorbed into the Indian way of life.

Indian National Flag

THE NATIONAL FLAG OF INDIA is in tricolour ( TIRANGA) of deep saffron (Kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal propotions.

In the centre of the white band, there is a wheel in navy blue to indicate the Dharma Chakra, the wheel of law in the Sarnath Lion Capital.

This center symbol or the 'CHAKRA', is a Buddhist symbol dating back to 200th century BC.

Its diameter approximates the width of the white band and it has 24 spokes, which intends to show that there is life in movement and death in stagnation.

The saffron stands for courage, sacrifice and the spirit of renunciation; the white, for purity and truth; the green for faith and fertility.

The flag symbolizes freedom. The late Prime Minister Pandit Nehru called it a flag not only of freedom for ourselves, but a symbol of freedom for all people.
The Tajmahal, a man made wonder.

The Tajmahal, one of the worlds wonder.

It is this variety which is a special hallmark of India. Its physical, religious and racial variety is as immense as its linguistic diversity. Underneath this diversity lies the continuity of Indian civilization and social structure from the very earliest times until the present day.

One of the greatest place to visit in India is The Taj Mahal. You will not be able to explain and experience the first sight you have at Taj maal wneh you enter the complex.

It is a marvellous experience.

Crowd at Juhu Beach, Mumbai

The modern Indian crowd waiting and relaxing at Juhu Beach on an evening.

Modern India presents a picture of unity in diversity to which history provides no parallel

Lake Palace, Udaipur

This is the summer palace of rajastan Maharajs. In summer the Maharajs stay there with all his family nad friedns, so that they are not affeccted by the heat.

The Maharajs had many palaces one for summer, the other for winter, the other for rainy season etc.

What a wonderful life they had,

The brighter side of India

Wow my modern India. Now you can buy anything in India with money.

It is all about money, honey.

The other side of India

It is difficult to see the other side of India.

Even more than 50 years after independence from almost two centuries of British rule, large scale poverty remains the most shameful blot on the face of India.

India still has the world?s largest number of poor people in a single country. Of its nearly 1 billion inhabitants, an estimated 350-400 million are below the poverty line, 75 per cent of them in the rural areas.

More than 40 per cent of the population is illiterate, with women, tribal and scheduled castes particularly affected

The main causes of poverty are illiteracy, a population growth rate by far exceeding the economic growth rate for the better part of the past 50 years.

Eradication of poverty can only be a very long-term goal in India
