Nightlife Spot: Barrio Latino

A fantastic place !! The restaurant transforms into a salsa dance floor every Sunday afternoon from 3 to 7:30 pm. Great music and dancers in a colourful setting. What an atmosphere there, believe me !!! Salseros and salseras, don't miss it, it's too great.

Nightlife Spot: Babalu

Nice lounge café/restaurant/concert cave located in the Bastille district. Concerts and DJ's every night, salsa nights on Saturdays and Afro-Cuban-drums concert on Sundays (around 10 pm). Experience the latin fever !

Nightlife Spot: La Pachanga

A nice and well-decorated latino place to have a drink or eat but unfortunately for us, it was so crowded when we got there (on a Saturday night) that it wasn't easy to find a bit of space on the dance floor (and it was soooo hot in there, they still have to install the air conditioning). May be we'll be more lucky next time !

Entrance fee : 10 euros (including a class and a drink)

Nightlife Spot: Oncle Benz (Porte d'Italie - 13e arr.)

Restaurant/wine bar where free concerts are organised. We went there by a mere chance and had a lot of fun. A French band was playing that night and they created such a great atmosphere with their living music, funny and poetic texts and "theatre expressions" (have a look at their website to see what the singer looks like).

Nightlife Spot: Gecko café - rue Oberkampf

Little bar like many others in Paris where you can go for a drink while listening to live music. I went there to see a concert that was recommended to me and I was not disappointed : the band was great and so was the atmosphere with all the people singing along. I had a great time so if you have the opportunity to go and see them, don't hesitate (see the link for their website).

I also wanted to write a tip about this street (Oberkampf) because it's very living at night and there is probably something for each taste.

Nightlife Spot: LYLO

LYLO stands for "Les Yeux Les Oreilles" (the eyes the ears). It's free and contains all useful information about the nightlife in Paris and especially about concerts in bars. Many of the concerts proposed are free or you only need to pay a drink or 5 euros. As for my experience, I was not disappointed by my random choices going from reggae, afro-latino beats and French song to "musette punk manouche" (it's the kind of original explanation you can read for some concerts ;-) LYLO is to be found in every cool bar.
