I found a lot of the myths about New York City, to not be true necessarily. for example, many people have said that New Yorkers are rude and arrogant. All of the people I met there were quite friendly, its just that people tend to mind their own business and go about their daily work and not pay attention to what others around them are doing. I don't find this to be rude, just people minding their own business. Another thing is the subways being dangerous. I rode the subways so many times and at various hours of the day and evening. No trouble at all, didn't see any fights or criminals or gangsters on the trains. I've been more afraid on Sydney trains at times!! One thing I would warn people about is driving in NYC. I would much more recomment a train, bus or even taxi. DO NOT drive yourself around Manhattan, cars are coming from all directions, and there is constantly traffic, yes even at 2am on a Monday night!! Avoid driving if you can, trust me! |
