Geelong Things to Do Tips by ombre

If you happen to be in Geelong in the winter months check out a game of Aussie Rules at kadinia Park.
Geelong has there own team in the countries national comp of australian rules football.
They are the only team out side of the capital cities .
OUTSIDE OF ALL THAT YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO SEE SOME OF THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD.THE REASON I SAY SOME IS IT IS 270 km from geelong to warrnambool via the great ocean road.
however its only 187 km to warrnabool via the princes highway.
the good thing about this part of australia is there are alot of great towns and beaches that un like most parts of australia are with in about an hour from each other.
So you can see alot in a short space of time.

When your in the geelong area you may note that your not to far away from the town of werribee .
Werribee host 2 major places of interest 1 The werribee mansion and also the werribee free range zoo.
Lucky both are right next door to each other
both are well worth a look and are some what in between both geelong and melborne.
the mansion has great gardens as well as historic interior.
It gives a insight in the more well to do folk of 100 or more years ago

You have to be pretty silly to go to Kadina Park when you Barrack for Collingwood as I do.
My mate magpies and i went down there last a couple of years ago and it was a feral experience .
Lucky we lost as we made it back to melbourne thank god.

Melbourne is listed as having 3 zoo's but the free range open range zoo in werribee probably deserves a listing under either melbourne or geelong being some what in the middle.
Today I visited the zoo again since it's early days and it has improved alot and continues to do so each year.
Price for adults is about 15.50 ,children I forget .
There is a safari bus trip around the zoo which takes roughly 50 mins and is included in the trip and is well worth it.
there are also walking tracks around the zoo with one spot allowing you to become face to face with some cheetaha's (though from the safety of behind glass.
The Zoo shows animal is a very good way having some kind of freedom and although it's never going to match the city zoo in terms of money ,animals ect it really does get better each year and is well worth a good 4 hours look at

The open zoo has improved alot since my first
visit and each year it seems to be a little better this pic i took in april this year .
It show just how close you get to these Animals giving us glimpse of africa in our own back yard so to speak.
From what I seen on tv's getaway program you can stay over nigh in tents or cabins (i'm not sure which)
The keepers give you guided early morning tour.
it's amazing just how far modern Zoo's have come from the horrible days of distressed looking animals confined to what was nothing better than a cell block .
I couldn't say just how many varieties of animals roam here
nor could I tell you the size the zoo is set on.
What i can tell you for sure is it a worth while trip and even just 2 hours might be enough if your pushed for time

the wool ,musuem is said to attract many Kiwi's the smell the wool and think wow shep and it's like bee's to honey .I wrote this just to wind up kiwi see would love it here hahaha
