General Tips: No flights to Lugans'k on weekends, try Donetsk

Favorite Thing: Since there are no flights from the Kiev airport on weekends, you have a couple choices. One is the train, but it's an excruciating 17 hour trip and unless you have all the time in the world (I don't) I would suggest trying to fly into Donetsk. It's a fairly short flight on a really old and somewhat "worn" aircraft (Antonoff 24) by American standards, but I got there and back with no problem. Don't expect a heated tunnel to the door (you take a bus to the plane and walk up the ramp), anyone to carry your bags, or a warm plane upon your arrival (mine didn't fire up until after 15 minutes).
Fondest Memory: Getting into the taxi and having the driver offer me a piece of his chicken he just bought...

Favorite Thing: If you're American you'll need a Visa to enter Ukraine. I've used ukrainetrip.com several times, and I'd recommend them if you prefer to use an agency to process it for you.
