"Uniontown Tips" Uniontown by jackehammond

Uniontown is located right at the base of the mountains. For a long while it was going downhill but with the addition of the bypass it is picking up. When you come to Uniontown from the west on the Old National Road (US40) you are literally at the bottom of the mountains. The climb up the road to the summit is something and use to be (and still is) one of the most dangerous stretches of roads in the country (at the top for those going west they have a huge flashing sign warning people).

For fall colors no where beats Uniontown when they are at their peak. It is incredible.

If you are into white water rafting experience east of Uniontown is a state park known for white water rafting.

Also not far from Uniontown is Frank Llyod Wrights house "Falling Waters." It something to see. Especially in the fall. But a WARNING: Have reservations during the fall. Bus tours take up a lot of the available slots.

A little known side trip my wife and I always like to take when we go to the Uniontown area is to Mt Davis the highest point in Pennsylvannia. While not like you would think of a mountain it has a lake at the top and if you are looking for a quiet place it is wonderful.

Well my wife just called me to get ready to go. Gotta go.
