Madrid --- City that Never Sleeps

Running Sheeps

Jean pointing at the baby sheep, she's so cute!!!!
We spent about a total of 6 days in Madrid, it was great! I dont know how it happened but we were there at a great time. We experienced the running of sheeps thru Madrid. I asked several tour guides what they call this occasion but they said they dont have a name for it... but it happens only once a year. They said a long time ago, Madrid wasnt a big city like it is now. It used to be a small village that sheep would run to from North to South (or was it the other way around? LOL sorry) Nowadays, the farmers would still do this once a year thru madrid. There were hundreds of sheeps and it was awesome! They were being led by 2 dogs, 1 white and 1 black dog and before we saw the sheeps there was a small parade of dancers and singers. Most of them were wearing Andalucian costumes. I will post more pics in my travelogue. It was a great experience and we were fortunate enough to see it considering they only do this once a year.

City that Never Sleeps

Madrid to me seems like a city that never sleeps, well ok it does, they do have long siestas for sure! but it seems like the city is always alive! We got there from Barcelona at around 8am and the city was dead... well on our first day we decide to go to Segovia (tips in my Segovia pages) for the whole day and when we got back to the hotel at around 8pm the streets was full of people, come 10pm double it! and the later it got the more people there were and it was insane! Before we left we checked out the Christmas Market in Plaza Mayor and oh boy... let the pic explain it.
LOL... still love Madrid
