Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: The Pillars of the country
  • Tip Rating:
  • I know it sounds touristy: THE GRAND PALACE & THE EMERALD BUDDHA....

open your minds and yourself to realize that there are more facts and deep history to some touristy places....

the grand palace roots its history back into the ancient times where the royalties lived, educated, ruled, build a corner stone of the thai civilazation, and a gallery with collection of arts and weapons....it's a facinating sight!

check out the hand painted walls that tells stories and myths of ancient world and what were seen by the people of the ancient times...

one can see how the western and the eastern world molded during a time of world evolvement....

and not the least is the backbone of the thai culture, BUDDHISM.... (though i am christian), i am fascinated by the people's respect and the hospitality that is build on the fundaments of the religion.

learn that the emerlad buddha is one of the most popular landmarks and icon of the thailand.

the emerald buddha's clothings are changed as the passing of a new season....and no one in the kingdom is as worthy to change the buddha's clothes but only the KING.

to know the culture and the country, start from its roots...

    Chinatown: CHINA TOWN
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bangkok Chinatown
  • YAO WARAT road....CHINA TOWN
  • by travelagent4thailand
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • The Chinese have found themselves in almost every corners of the world...from Toronto to San Francisco to Sydney to Bangkok.

Bangkok's CHINA TOWN's is by far one of the most interesting places to visit in Bangkok as a travel point or CHINA TOWNs in general.

BKK's china town is almost 24 hours of non stop action. From the crack of dawn, gold and pawn shops, watch dealers, and little coffe houses set up for their days work.

As the evening falls into the night shift to the wee hours of the morning, CHINA TOWN here in BKK becomes one of the largest street side food hawkers' square. From the finest Chinese cuisines, thai deserts rivaling the chinese black bean gluttonous ginger treats, to fresh live seafoods and bird' nest....simply more for your palate than your stomach can hold.

Myriads of little shops open late nights selling remedies to better health such as turtle shell's medi mixes to cd stalls selling the finest collection of Chinese DVD, CD...

It's a must see place, don't miss out!
