Me and the Pacific, Vladivostok Oct 2004

I DID IT!

My journey to Vladivostok by Trans-Siberian train started September 20th and back home in Luumäki, Finland, I was October 20th.

I travelled by train with no prereserved tickets, alone, without any timetable - as I did in my younger days. I made stops in between but unfortunately I coudn't visit China because I hadn't enough time to get a two times visa to Russia.

This was just the journey of my life! I did manage the journey with Russian language, which I have studied many years just for this journey, which originally was just a joke, when people asked me: "Why do you want to learn Russian?"

I made stops in Omsk, Irkutsk and Listvyanka on Lake Baikal before reaching Vladivostok.

On the way back I visited Khabarovsk, Ulan-Ude, Krasnoyarsk and Tomsk.

This way of travelling suites for me! In August I wrote: "I hope, I am coming to say these words also after the journey :)" And I really say it today!!!

Unfortunately I was very busy before the journey and couldn't take contact with VTers as much as I'ld like to do. So I met only three VT friends on the way.

But next time - soon - I hope!
