Hot Weather, Good Food, Hot Nights We stayed in Nagoya for a week while we were waiting for Bobby to meet us from Taiwan and continue on to Korea. We stayed at a minshuku which is the cheapest kind of lodging in Japan, but you have to share the bathroom with other guests. The weather was so hot and muggy that we mostly just stayed inside during the day, and only went out at night. We ate usually at Izakayas and they all had good food and were about the same. If you like a variety Izakayas are the best places to eat. We went dancing one night at a place called the Doors in Fujigaoka and that was fun, but the most fun we had was a t a place called Misfits in Imaike. We went there about 11 after we ate dinner at an izakaya. When we got there this crazy impromptu jam session was just starting and it was great. People were playing guitar and harmonica and singing and dancing. First we were just pounding on our table like drums, and everybody was, but then we got up and started dancing. There was even somebody playing a violin. We stayed until about three or four that night. It was definitely the height of our stay in Nagoya. I will go back to Nagoya, but not in August. |
