Uzbekistan has astonishing well preserved ancient Islamic architecture; provides very unusual travel experiences every day and offers some of the most hospitable people thinkable.
I experienced that for the first time when Shokir and his wonderful wife Mavluda invited me to their village to stay at their familyhome and celebrate his brothers wedding. I ended up staying 5 days!

You have been to many wonderful places. Very interesting page.
It mus have been a great experience to attend an Uzbekistan wedding! Great page, interesting to read.
fascinating, funny AND depressing page
You've had a wonderful experience here in Uzbekistan, the kind that travelers cherish.... I'm especially intrigued by Moynaq, and the ships in the desert.......
Just been to Bukara. He is still there selling paintings. Loved them Bought 2. Prices up since your 2003 post. They are lovely pieces, fine lines & a great momento of a country which surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend a visit.
Ha!Interesting culture, the wedding has some similarities with chinese village wedding. cotton fields pic reminds me the orange picking in my high shcool which is also compulsory. wonderful page!!!
Uzbekistan seems to be suffering terribly ecologically since the lake was drained in Moynaq. The pics showed such a dismal landscape--I hope this affects just a tiny part of the country.
Terrific tales here about this wonderful country. I'd love to have had the time to simply stay and do things as you did - my next visit to Uzbekistan is definitely going to be longer. leyle
Another of your wild adventures! Really entertaining stuff that you do on your trips! Great that you had some good times with the locals but that ecological disaster at Moynaq is truly sad. Wonderful page!
Wow, spectacular tour pages on Uzbekistan.Very informative tips and somehow, i find that picking cotton balls is quite amusing. Anyhow, happy travel!
