Joel Bungalows: Fantastic location on the East Coast

Right at the beach you can stay in huts with bed and mosquito nets inside.

Joel Bungalow's is only a 15 minutes walk from Lampu'uk village and from there half an hour drive from Banda Aceh.
It’s location at the beach and with views on impressive limestone rocks- is superb!

Boys from the village make basic meals and fantastic chocolate pancakes, and if you order in advance they will prepare the most fantastic (fish-)dishes!

Joel has a small book collection, a mini billiards and a chessboard. On various spots around the beach you may like to use the hammock, the relaxing chairs or whatever you like! Surf boards are for rent.

The toilet is outside -just a hole in the sand- and if you need fresh water -maybe for a shower- you need to bring it up from the ground using basket and rope.

Pak Mus Homestay: Homestay in Gunung Leuser NP....

Unique Qualities: This very friendly homestay in Ketambe consists of 4 basic bungalows with attached bathroom in the middle of the Gunung Leuser rainforest.

The family's living area is used by the guests as well. Lot's of monkeys are around and if you're lucky you can even see Urang Utan's!

Along the Kutacane-Blankejaeren road there are more commercial guesthouses for tourists as well, but at Pak Mus Homestay I experienced great hospitality and the warmth of living with the lovely family of Pak Mus, who has, besides his wife, 7 children in the age of 5-19 years old (2002).

Pak Mus himself is an experienced guide for trekkings in the area. The area is, unfortunately, becoming less and less interesting for short treks because of the (illegal) logging in the forest.

A stay with the family is also a great opportunaty to practise your Bahasa Indonesia!!

I paid 45000 rp (ca. $5) for a night incl. 3 meals with the family and free coffee (!!!) or tea.
