SFO ... a declassé love letter

by davequ - last update: Nov 6, 2009

And a tribute to Chet Helms

San Francisco (like Paris) is beyond words and cliches.

It sometimes feels impossible to come up with something adequate to describe a town like this
and most of it has all been said at vt already...
If there is a soundtrack of the City playing in my head, it is usually the first 8 bars of Spencer Dryden drums:

'Elle a les voitures droles'

Say "hi" or honk if like me
you've got it bad for San Francisco.

Approx. 121 sq km & 360 deg of premium "eye-gasm"

Thanks to everyone at VT and everywhere else for all their great SF pages & tips
that I enjoy every day, & for sharing so the rest of us
can stand on your shoulders to get such a great look at your incredible city.

Special gratitude for inspiration to:

jessicadf .... jadf: all the best to you & yours.

One of the great walking cities of the world

Paris & NYC may be somewhat older, bigger, come on a little stronger
or be a tad more extreme / overwhelming:

Haha! So you were a big Trannyshack fan as well! I spent many a Tuesday nite, there. I may just have to go to the last big blowout show. I just may have to...

I made a return visit to your S.F. page--our trip will most likely be scheduled for June or July. It was great reading over your tips--nice commentary, Dave. Regards from Texas....
